Come on, yes he was a 1st rounder (30th overall in 2002), but he knows his role on the team, does it well, and works his ass off. Cut him some slack, can we?

He was a first-round draft choice now playing on a 3rd line? Unless you're on the Wings or Pens, that's just criminal; almost Stefan-like...
As far as him living up to his draft position goes, no. My philosophy on Slater is that he should have been picked probably further down, but Waddell jumped the gun, picked him up too early, and saddled him with pressure. If he were a 2nd rounder like he probably should have been, no one'd have a beef.
