An Early Valentine.

Ok, yes, I just made a Valentine's Day reference (I hate any holiday that can be abbreviated VD), but wow. The Blues managed to hold off the Caps and win in a shootout 4-3 (recap to come tomorrow) and the Thrashers nabbed 4 out of 6 points on their road trip, losing in a shootout to the 2nd best team in the league, the Chicago Blackhawks. And not one of those lucky shootout losses - one of those "lookit us, we held our own with the BLACKHAWKS, bitchnizes" kinds of wins.

Recaps and whatnot of both games will be up tomorrow - one too many fizzy adult beverages and too much sodium for the evening - but all in all, what an outstanding evening for the two teams. St. Louis, who everyone thought was dead - DEAD, I tell you! - now sit a paltry 3 points back of the 8h and final spot. The Thrashers - that team that everyone predicted would shrivel up and die without their captain, well, they have captured six of ten points post Kovalchuk, wheras the Devils have gotten five out of 12. Interesting. Seems pretty... well... draw your own conclusions.
