And apparently they get the first game done in one period. In what might very well be the worst headline in the Post-Dispatch's history, the 3-2 defeat of the Chicago Blackhawks last night was hailed as a step in the right direction. Hopefully David Backes can replicate his 2 goal game again tonight, because the Blues are having to deal with the Sharks next.
How big of a push for the guys would it be if they could knock off the top two teams in the West in back to back nights? Especially considering that the Blues got 19 shots off all game. That will be a problem for them tonight against the Sharks. Nabby is not Huet. Oh, and the game tonight's at home, so gone will be the Kariya hustle from last evening.
The Blues are just five points out of the last playoff spot. No, that's not as good as the Thrashers' one point back, but at least the Blues aren't losing their star player in a deal that may or may not improve the team. We've still got a crack at this.
